Why Thinking Otherwise?
These are all the types of questions we were asking and we set out, as global teachers, to try and find the answer.
The result was Thinking Otherwise.
- What does it mean to be a global citizen?
- How does this concept relate to digital literacy?
- Is it relevant to educators who are working in pressurised, rapidly changing educational systems?
- What are the benefits for me, my students and my community?
These are all the types of questions we were asking and we set out, as global teachers, to try and find the answer.
The result was Thinking Otherwise.
Four secondary schools from across Europe and two small educational charities collaborated to share expertise and deepen our understanding of the intersection between global learning, critical thinking and digital literacy.
We set out to ask ourselves questions, challenge our assumptions, think deeply, reflect and apply our learning in our own lives and settings.
- Would our discoveries equip us to consider some of the complex, inter-related challenges of our time - globalisation, migration, radicalisation, polarisation and isolation?
- How could we support our students to develop the knowledge, understanding, values and skills to thrive and grow in this ever changing, uncertain world?
We set out to ask ourselves questions, challenge our assumptions, think deeply, reflect and apply our learning in our own lives and settings.
This website showcases the results of our collaboration. We have documented our learning across three strands:
|
Lesson Plans: CREATED BY TEACHERS |
How did we align project activities with the curriculum and priorities in schools in Turkey, Estonia, Germany and Slovenia? |
Activities: CREATED BY STUDENTS |
How did students take ownership for their own learning and become peer educators within their own community and across the Thinking Otherwise partnership schools? |
We hope you will enjoy exploring the website and find resources and ideas to inspire your lifelong journey as a globally-aware educator and citizen.
